In late June of 2026 I travelled to Quesnel and Barkerville in British Columbia to research the Cariboo Gold Rush for a new project. It was my first time through many of these small towns and landscapes and I was utterly stunned by their beauty and diversity.

I visited many places on the “Gold Rush Trail”, and pondered the journeys of the people who ventured onto these lands without any roads or guides and who relied on the goodness or entrepreneurial intentions of the local Salish, Dakelh or Tŝilhqot’in people along the way in order to survive.

Here are the pieces of a story taking shape.
